I think these are gannets. Although I didn’t know this until I came home and checked, so apologies if you’re the man with the dog who asked me if they were seagulls. The best answer I could do you at the time was the one you got – “pretty sure no, but I don’t know what they actually are.”

My next selection of avian friends from today’s excursion to the beach, I think I do know; these are probably sandwich terns. Although I may be wrong.
