The Enoden links Fujisawa & Kamakura via a coastal route that gives both those cities access to the little island of Enoshima – hence the name. It’s a charming, old-fashioned trainline, with some really interesting sights to be seen along the way.

Local Sights
After the absolute smorgasbord of historically important areas connected to the Tokaido line last week, I’m afraid we drift into an empty sea of nothingness this week.
The next two Enoden stations – Ishigami & Yanagikoji – don’t really have a whole lot happening at them.
There’s a swimming school near Ishigami, which I recall hearing is one of the country’s oldest. Then there’s a jizo statue not far from that same station… then at Yanagikoji? Nothing to report, I’m afraid – it’s largely a residential area.
The Ishigami Jizo
This jizo stands right up close to somebody’s front garden, as I’m sure you can see in the image below.

It’s the oldest jizo in the area, apparently being built in the 17th century. The story behind it is that it was originally closer to the river, where it was part of the ferry port and, I assume, intended to protect passengers from any water related mishaps.
Not much danger of those around here, unless someone gets particularly over-enthusiastic with the garden hose.
That’s about all to be said for points of interest around these two stations, unfortunately – but you can get a closer look at the stations themselves in the gallery below.
