Former Wakefield Road Police Station (Bradford Doors)

This doorway clearly has a few tales to tell: it was built as a police station in the East Bowling area of the city in 1859… except Bradford wasn’t actually a city back then. (It became a city in 1897.)

This means that the coat of arms above the door in the pictures above is the old town coat of arms, granted in 1847. According to this site, a coat of arms in colour is quite unusual to see around the city. (I certainly haven’t seen any others yet.)

I think that there was also a fire station on the same premises – the door without the coat of arms in the pictures above would have been the entrance to that.

Nowadays, you can purchase fishy goings on as opposed to having them investigated for you – the building’s been a tropical fish shop since 1971.
