The David Hockney Gallery (Bradford Doors)


One of Britain’s most famous artists – and perhaps Bradford’s most famous son – David Hockney’s prolific career has produced quite the body of work. Some of it is on display at this gallery in Cartwright Hall, Bradford’s civic art gallery. It’s situated to the north of the city and about a mile out from the centre in Lister Park. Named after the inventor of the power loom, it was built in 1904 with money from Samuel Lister.

It’s not the only place to find Hockney’s work in Bradford – Salts Mill in Saltaire (just up the road a bit from here) also has a lot of Hockney’s art on display.

The other door in the pictures above can be found on the opposite side of Cartwright Hall to this, and does not, sadly, lead to a room full of tea and cakes.
