
Found on the last stretch of the Old Leeds Road that’s in Bradford, this church seemingly closed its doors on the 19th of September 2021. I don’t think it even made it 100 years before closing – it looks like it was built in 1927, according to the foundation stones here:

So as an institution, a place of worship, it will never make its centenary. The building itself though will carry on, impervious to market forces and the more esoteric notions of function that meant the methodists shut up shop.
It’s a bit odd to think of a church closing. They have these weird kind of impernanence about them, typically. I sense that this notion could be confirmation bias – the ones that have been around forever have just managed to dodge shifts in population or other events beyond their control that lead to their closing. Least, as a layman, that’s what I’d assume.

As you can see in the picture above, the church was on sale. It’s been sold since. I’m curious what it’s going to end up as in its new life.
